Massage Therapy

Manual manipulation of the body using a wide variety of massage techniques (ie: kneading, rolling, muscle stripping, etc.) with oil/lotion to induce relaxation and therapeutic benefits. Included in this category is the more gentle approach of Swedish massage and/or Deep Tissue massage - each treatment I perform is tailored to the individual, so you don’t have to worry about which type of massage to book.

Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu is a Japan massage modality based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The method is often applied over clothing, using acupressure or slow compressions to trace along the ‘meridians’ or energy channels as described in TCM. The philosophy of this style treatment is to realign balance in these pathways and to remove any blockages of proper Qi (pronounced ‘chi’) flow in the body.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient practise dating back thousands of years used all over the world. Using either plastic or silicon cups to create a vacuum suction, negative pressure is created which increases blood flow to the area. The cups can be left stationary or used in a moving fashion to aid with muscle tension, fascial adhesions or lymphatic drainage.

Bamboo-Fusion Massage

Bamboo fusion massage is a fairly new type of massage technique utilizing various diameters and lengths of heated bamboo sticks. The sticks are warmed in a heating pad which helps aid deeper relaxation of the muscles/tissues being manipulated. This is often a deep tissue type of treatment, however light pressure can be used to turn in into a very relaxing, spa-type treatment. I enjoy being able to offer this unique experience as one of the first 100 individuals certified in the modality in Canada.

Pilates

Pilates is a series of exercises created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s for rehabilitation purposes. His method was influenced by different forms of exercise such as gymnastics and boxing, and was a fan favourite of dancers. Focusing on body awareness, flexibility, strength and stability this type of exercise is a great foundation to everyones movement repertoire, as it is complimentary to any other activity you like to do. Accessible to all fitness levels for those who strive to be stronger or remedial type exercises for injuries.
